Kid's empathy

Sophie walks in and says: "Opi?" (It's what she called my dad). She feels lots of things but is too young to have the tools to express them. 

I ask her if she's missing him. She says yes. 

Then she asks me, with that look she has, whether I still cry about him. I just look at her, not knowing what to say. She says: "when I'm not there?"

Perceptive, this kid. Such empathy.
